NSMA is no more.
Wow. So this has been WAAAAY overdue and, for that, I sincerely apologize to you all. But, just to make it perfectly clear to everyone, New Super Mario Adventures is dead. It has been for almost a year now.
The comic went on a long hiatus, initially, because one of our artists was having *massive* computer problems. Which, y\'know, no big deal. Life happens. But, what kept the comic from actually starting up again was me. And, for that, I again apologize.
Making NSMA wasn\'t cheap. Sure, I created and wrote the script for this comic, but for any of you who weren\\\'t already aware of this, I was commissioning the entire artistic team. Every single page you guys have read came directly out of my pocket. Artists are hardworking people, and they deserve to be paid for their work, of course, so this wasn\\\'t the problem.
The problem really came from not being able to afford additional pages. When we first started this comic, I was in the Navy and had plenty of extra income to put into NSMA\'s production. But, that was over a year and a half ago. Since then, I\'ve been honorably discharged and now attend college in San Francisco. So, all of my extra income I was raking in, back then, is a lot less extra now.
On top of that, there was no way to generate any sort of revenue from this comic to keep it self-sustaining. As you all know, Nintendo\'s policy on fan projects is, well.... *very strict*, to put it politely. So, putting ads on this site? Absolute no-no. Creating a Patreon? Nope, can\'t do that.
Which brings us to where we are now. The entire creative team has moved on to other things (myself included). Since this comic bit the dust, I actually scored a writing gig with Oni Press (the publishers of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World). I\'ll be the writer of a totally original 5-issue miniseries that I\'ve been developing, ever since I first entered the Navy back in 2011. So, yeah, that\'s definitely a positive. In many ways, my work on NSMA has really helped me grow creatively and prepare for that. So, this comic will always have a special place in my heart.
As for this site: it\'s not going anywhere. I\'ll continue to pay for it, to keep it around. I love this comic and don\'t want it to disappear, even if it is incomplete. I want people to still be able to discover and revisit it.
In conclusion, I\'m sorry to disappoint you all, and I\'m again *doubly sorry* for keeping you all in the dark for as long as I did. There\'s a variety of excuses I could use for why I haven\'t really said anything until now. But, none of them really matter. I\'ve done wrong by you guys, and hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me.
I thank all of you for joining us on this adventure, and hope you\'ll all look back on it fondly. Until next time, everybody.
